Last week Cognita, our international family of schools, celebrated its annual European Leadership Summit on the outskirts of London. The two-day session of conferences and workshops were attended by leaders of the 52 Cognita schools from the United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland and Italy allowing all attendees the opportunity to learn from other colleagues and share their expertise.

The highlight of the summit was the award ceremony, which rewards outstanding schools for their work over the course of the previous academic year. The soiree couldn’t have started off any better for our school, since ELIS Murcia received the first of the 12 awards on offer: the ‘Great Place to Work’ prize, in the category of large schools (over 400 students), an award based purely on the Voice of Employee survey trend and results, a score ELIS Murcia has been improving year after year since 2016 as a result of its commitment to staff wellbeing and training opportunities. ELIS Murcia’s NPS of 60 was the highest of all the schools in this category.

However, the most important moment of the ceremony was yet to come, when the ‘Best School of the Year’ award was presented. This is the most sought after accolade as it is awarded to the school with best combined overall academic results, Voice of Parent/Student/Staff survey satisfaction scores, as well as a series of other key performance indicators. It’s a great pleasure to announce that ELIS Murcia is the proud winner of the Cognita Europe best School of the Year 2022 award.

Yet again, it is a real honour to be part of such an amazing school community and this recognition as the best of the best gives us a timely extra push for the upcoming accreditation visit by the Council of International School this month which, again, will put all our strengths to the most demanding of tests. We hope soon to announce that we have also been accredited by this internationally prestigious organisation as this would be the icing on the cake for our most brilliant moments in our more than 30 years of history.
