Another edition of ELIS El Valle Trail, with strong female participation and a focus on sustainability
Last Saturday, 8th March, the Montevida campus of ELIS Murcia successfully hosted a new edition of ELIS El Valle Trail, establishing itself as a key event in the region’s sporting calendar and a qualifying race. Over 500 runners took part in this challenging trail running competition in the stunning El Valle and Carrascoy Regional Park, with a strong female presence, in line with the celebration of International Women’s Day.
This year’s edition introduced an exciting new 8 km race with +400 m of elevation gain, specifically designed for cadet runners, encouraging young athletes to take up the sport. The Extreme (26 km, 1,600 m elevation) and Promo (18 km, 1,000 m elevation) categories were maintained, along with children’s races for alevines, benjamines and prebenjamines, allowing runners of all ages to enjoy the event.
Sustainability was also a key focus this year. Race packs were made from RPET polyester, a 100% recycled material, and additional measures were implemented to minimise the environmental impact of the event. A team of 80 volunteers played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the competition while also helping to protect the natural surroundings.
The event was not just a sporting challenge but also a day of community engagement for both the school and the local area. ELIS Murcia’s Family Club organised a variety of activities for all ages, including music and dance sessions, painting workshops and children’s races. The Vicente Ferrer Foundation was also present with an awareness-raising stand and a selection of fair-trade products.
Thanks to the support of internationally renowned sponsors such as Joma, UCAM and Golosinas Fini, alongside ELIS Murcia as the main sponsor, ELIS El Valle Trail once again proved its ability to bring together sport, sustainability and social commitment, creating an unforgettable day for runners and families alike.
