Last year, we shared the exciting news that ELIS Murcia was awarded the prestigious title of ‘School of the Year’ at the Cognita European Leadership Summit. This recognition was a testament to our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing the highest quality education and wellbeing for our students and staff.

We are thrilled to announce that this year, ELIS Murcia has once again been honoured with the title of ‘School of the Year 2023’ in the Large School category, marking our second consecutive win. In addition to this unprecedented and remarkable achievement, Vanessa Grimward, our Executive Principal at ELIS, was also recognised with the Leadership Award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to our educational community.

Our sister school ELIS Villamartín has also shone brightly this year, receiving two prestigious awards: ‘Holistic Education’ and ‘Most Loved by Parents’ in the Large School category. The ‘Holistic Education’ award is a recognition of our sister school’s commitment to providing a comprehensive education that goes beyond academic excellence, emphasising the wellbeing of students and a holistic approach to their development. The ‘Most Loved by Parents’ award is presented to the school with the highest scores in the annual parent satisfaction survey, which comprehensively assesses their feelings about various aspects of the school.

We would like to highlight that these achievements are not just about an awards ceremony; they reflect the dedication and hard work of our entire ELIS community, who ensure excellence in every aspect of our schools. Our success is a result of the combined efforts of our students, parents and staff, as well as our unwavering commitment to safeguarding, health, safety and academic achievement.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that this recognition also comes with the distinction of ELIS Murcia becoming the first Cognita school in Europe to earn accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS). This achievement is a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing a world-class international education.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our fellow Cognita schools in Spain, Italy and Switzerland, and York Prep School (New York city) as well, for their participation in this event. As we celebrate these accolades, it is important to emphasise that the Cognita Europe Leadership Summit revolves around two days of intensive academic and quality-focused activities, allowing us to work together in large groups and small teams with other Cognita schools, sharing our knowledge and innovations. It has been a fantastic opportunity for knowledge animation and collaboration.

Furthermore, our Executive Principal, Vanessa Grimward, also had the privilege of presenting a strategic planning session, highlighting how ELIS Murcia ensures a consistency in high quality of teaching and learning.
