Global Be Well Day 2026: in motion, we thrive at ELIS Murcia
On 25 September, more than 600 students from ELIS Murcia, from Nursery to Year 8, took part in the eighth edition of Global Be Well Day, the international initiative promoted by Cognita to celebrate and strengthen the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of the whole school community. Under the theme “In Motion, We Thrive”, this year’s event focused on physical activity as one of the key pillars of holistic wellbeing.
Throughout the day, students enjoyed a wide programme of sports activities, workshops, demonstrations and sessions with professionals, giving them the opportunity to discover new ways of staying active and experience how movement can contribute not only to their physical health, but also to their emotional wellbeing, relationships with others and the development of healthy habits.
The programme included a diverse range of activities, from rugby, basketball, swimming, padel, table tennis and football to kendo, dance, jugger, gymnastics and wheelchair basketball, as well as an outdoor obstacle course, Walk & Tabata and a variety of challenges and practical sessions. The day also gave students the opportunity to discover less familiar disciplines and experience adapted sport, promoting values such as inclusion, respect, empathy, perseverance and teamwork.
Students also had the opportunity to learn from professionals and organisations involved in sport and physical activity. UCAM Murcia Basketball, Club Universitario Rugby Murcia, Club Natación Ciudad de Murcia, Club de Kendo Kenshinkai, the Murcia Futsal Referees’ Federation, representatives from wheelchair basketball and dancer Miguel Ángel Serrano, among other collaborators, took part in different activities, demonstrations and talks throughout the day.
The ELIS Murcia families also played an important role in the celebrations. Several parents took part directly in the activities, from a strength-training workshop led by a PE teacher to sessions with family members involved in football, who shared their experiences and set different challenges for the students. Their involvement reinforced the message that wellbeing is a shared responsibility between the school, families and the wider community.
Global Be Well Day is part of Cognita’s wellbeing programme and its Be Well Charter, which is based on six pillars: sleeping well, eating healthily, staying active, connecting with others, doing things that bring us joy and contributing to the wellbeing of others. The event, which brings together more than 100,000 students and 22,000 Cognita colleagues across 21 countries each year, provides an opportunity to put these principles into practice and remind us that wellbeing is built through small habits and choices that we can maintain throughout the year.
At ELIS Murcia, we would like to extend our special thanks to all the families, professionals, clubs and organisations who helped make this day possible, sharing their time, expertise and passion with our students.
In Motion, We Thrive! 💚
